There's A First Time for Everything

Okay, so I used to not believe the title, but today, I'm not so sure. After almost 11 years of driving, I got in my first minor accident. I was so frustrated!! Just a little fender bender, the driver of hte massive truck in front of me didn't even realize I had bumped him. My car is okay, I guess, except for the crack in the front. Haven and I are fine, she said 'Mommy, we bumped' which she really enjoys, but I am praying that the insurance will be able to handle it, even if our rates go up slightly. My husband is great! He hardly ever gets mad, just frustrated, and although, I could tell he was not pleased with my lack of good driving, he was calm. His attitude is, 'It's just a car, it's goign to happen' (much like my dad) and I am thinking 'Man, I got another dent in my car'. I guess it could be worse, so I am very thankful that we weren't hurt, especially Haven, but still, if that guy didn't have a trailor hitch, all would be well. So, if you could pray that it doesn't cost too much to fix, that we can also throw my broken windhsield into the mix and see if they will pay for that too. It just seems like sometimes when it rains it pours and things happen all at once. (that eventually cost money) I still think we should go back to bartering things like way back when, but I guess such is life. God is still God, He protected us and kept us safe as He always does. He is still in control!

Blessings-

Girlfriends

Today, I went to the house of one of my dear, best friends from elementary/jr. high/high school. She has a daughter who is almost exactly 3 months older than Haven and another daughter who is 17 months. They had such a good time playing and being girls. It was fun to watch. All of Haven's friends are boys, her cousin is a boy, so she doesn't get much 'girl' time. It was fun to watch her play, and not with a 'fighting stick' in her hand or pretending to 'fight'. My friend and I had a great time catching up and just talking about life and what the Lord is doing in our lives and how we are maturing in Him daily. It is so awesome how you can not see someone for awhile and then just pick up where you left off. I know there aren't many friends you can do that with, only a few, but I am privileged to be able to do that with her and just be myself. The Lord is good to provide us with those rare sisters in Christ that we can just be us!!
So, needless to say, we have had a fun morning of girl time!
It has finally rained last night and this morning. We have so needed it. It is much cooler today as well, which we have needed!
My splurge this morning on the way to my friends house was to stop by Starbuck's and get some coffee. We don't have one in our town, that isn't in a Barnes and Noble, so it was fun to get a coffee that isn't from my coffee pot!:) It tastes so much better! Funny how when you are budgeting, it's the little things in life that make us smile.:) Like Mac and Cheese for lunch. Haven was very excited that she and her sweet friend were having macaroni and cheese and fish sticks for lunch. Good times!
Well, all for now. Have a great week with Jesus!

Moms

My mom's birthday is today. I am fixing to call her and wish her a happy birthday. After that, I am going to be like every stay at home mom and get out of the house. I will probably go to the mall and walk around and window shop with Haven. I would go to Wal-Mart to get milk, but I did that yesterday, so I don't have an excuse to go there. Just one of those days where I don't feel like sitting in the house. It's too hot to play outside or go to the park, so I guess the mall it is!
Micah and I are goign on our first date tomorrow in like forever. I am excited! I know when we got married, and even before we had Haven, we told each other we would have a date night once a week, even if it was spending time together after Haven went to bed, but it seems as if we haven't done that in awhile, or even gone out just the two of us in awhile, so we are goign to do that tomorrow. My sweet sister, Stephanie (my broter in law's fiance) and John Mark are going to watch her for a few hours tomorrow. I think they are excited just about as much as we are. Since I don't have any sisters of my own, they are my sisters. So far, it's just me and Stephanie that are married into the family. My other two sisters are Micah's sisters. So, there you have it. I do have another sister, my brother's wife, Jill, whom I also consider my sister. I wish we got to see each other more often. They live in Owasso, Oklahoma, about 20 minutes outside of Tulsa. Anyway, family's great!! I love it! Speaking of, I have to get off of here and call my mommy. Have a great day with Jesus!

We're back....

We are back from beautiful Colorado. We got back Saturday night and this is the first time I have had to actually sit down and type.
Colorado was great. We biked over 70 miles and had a great time. The scenery was beautiful. We got to see Vail, Copper Moutain, Leadville, Glenwood Springs, Keystone, Frisco, Silverthourne, and all the mountains. It was a little chilly at night, but other than that, the weather was great. Haven did amazingly in the car. Thanks to all of you who prayed. We brought the laptop for her to watch movies, and it was a great idea! She had a good time riding bikes with her uncle Carl! She also enjoyed helping Aunt Wanda get sticks for the camp fires at night. We roasted marshmellows and made smores. We also played cards and games when we weren't too tired from the days activities. I am so glad to be home though. I never thought I would take my potty for granted. There was no showers or bathrooms (with real toilets) there, so we had to use a port-a-potty along with all the other people camping. We did get to borrow a shower from a friend of my cousin's, which we were all very thankful for! That was the beginning of the week, so we boiled some water and sponge bathed. Interesting to say the least!!! But it was a great time and I had forgotten how beautiful the mountains truly were, but I have to say, I was so glad to get home too! There is nothing like Northwest Arkansas. It has its own beauty. (although Colorado had no humidity.....)
I hope you find the beauty in your day today that God has created for you to enjoy. Have a great day with Him-

Colorado

Haven and I are off to Colorado Friday morning. We are going camping with my aunts and cousin. Haven is excited and I am too. I am praying she does a lot better in the car this time. It's just a long ride for a 2 1/2 year old.
Today we are packing and getting everything together. We are supposed to bring some long sleeve things for the morning, since we'll be in the mouuntains. It's amazing how God created this country, with it being summer, and it can be hot in Colorado but then there can be snow on some of hte higher mountains, and you can be wearing shorts!!!:) It's not as humid either as it is here in Arkansas. I'm sure I'll have a lot to post when I get back. I'm signing off for now. Have a great rest of the week!
Be blessed,
Kara

The morning after....

Okay, I am all about the 4th of July and fireworks and celebrating our independence as a country, but do they have to do it at midnight?? It sounded like a war zone outside of our house last night. It's fun to hear, until you are trying to go to sleep and then it's not so fun! Between that and dogs barking, it made for an interesting night. So I am definitely doing coffee right now! It was a good weekend though. I was getting used to Micah being home, so it was kind of a bummer that he had to actually go to work today.
I am reading a bood right now by Tommy Tenney, called God's Eye View about worshipping the Lord and what His perspective is. It has been really good and I have learned a lot so far. About how we worship to bless Him and bring glory and honor to Him, not ourselves, to get anything out of it for us. It's a good reminder, especially in corporate worship. God is good to give us those reminders every once in awhile.
Be blessed and have a wonderful day with Jesus!

The Zoo

We went to the zoo today with some friends. It was hot, but fun! We went with some friends who have 3 sweet boys and so Haven had more fun than she would just going with her parents. There were a lot of kiddos at the zoo since it's a holiday weekend and it was fun to see their faces when they saw the animals. Oh the innocence of being that young! And speaking of being young, I am not anymore. I am the big 27! Although I know I am not old, I feel I am not young anymore, not considered a 'young adult'. But, that is life!
Enjoy the fireworks!!

Rain and Being Blessed

It finally rained last night and this morning. I never realized how much we need rain until we don't have it for awhile. The Lord knew we needed it and it was nice to wake up in the middle of the night and here it raining outside. God is good!
My dear cousin is in town from Oklahoma, her second home, only to Arkansas. We are going to be hanging out over this next week and then it's off to Colorado where we will be biking and roughing it! Haven is going along for the ride, so it should be intersting, yet fun. She is such an outdoor girl, she'll have a blast. She is such a sweet girl, high maintenance, but a joy.
Enjoy the fireworks Monday and be safe. We shouldn't take our independence for granted, we are very blessed!
